LOST VOYAGE: LAKE EDEN
(Re)Happenings Festival, Black Mountain College
The Lost Voyage collective, founded by Jo Wood-Brown and Miriam Parker, built from the individual practices of each artist in the collective, who offer their specified mediums in dialogue with each other, and for the community.
For the (Re)happenings Festival, our work began on Lake Eden, and continues into the interior of the roundhouse. These images show our travel across the lake in a canoe, the image of which came to me in a dream.

“We are a collective of artists that build work from individual practices, each artist maintaining their own investigations in their specified mediums to create languages that craft their personal development to be offered to their community.
Activating choreographed spaces, each artist upholds their own creative agency within each specified practice whilst maintaining morality and relinquishing control of each outcome, allowing the viewer to tell their own stories in tandem. This interactivity brings forth a focus on process and an interpersonal navigation of the relationship between oneself and their surrounding environment.
From the dining hall leading to the waterfront, a collective of multimedia artists engages in a journey, activating choreographed spaces and transportable objects that uphold personal creative agency. By relinquishing control of outcomes, they invite viewers to navigate their own stories, emphasizing process and the connection between self and surroundings. This interactivity brings forth a focus on process and an interpersonal navigation of the relationship between oneself and their surrounding environment.”
